Having played the Bulls B to a draw Pre-season in a heated game and again in the first game in the inaugural year of the IIHL Development league, beating them 6 - 2, it promises to be a close game with the Bulls B receiving a stream of new players and cutting some and the Ravens improving much since their last game!!
After been beaten by the Latvian Hawks in their second ever game by 8 - 3 the Ravens have been waiting for
their chance to show how they have improved as a team against the Latvian side,
this happened at the teams second meeting which ended in a nail biting penalty shootout the teams having drawn 3 - 3. The Ravens started the scoring
with an unexpected goal from Michael
Rogan but the Latvians quickly made the goal back when the Ravens went a
man down. The period ended even with the Ravens looking the better side. The Ravens
kept up the pressure in the second period till halfway through a pass from Andrew Guest was rocketed into the
goals from just inside the offensive zone by Stephen Hayes. Again the Latvian team came back almost instantly
taking an advantage of a gap in the Ravens defence. The period ended even for
the second time promising a lively third period. In the third period, the Latvians
came into their own and piled on the pressure on the
college side. When the Ravens went a man down again the Latvians took advantage
to claim their second power play goal of the match. The Ravens kept their game
up pushed on by the determination of Hayes. Finally a fortunate block down by Ravens
defenseman Robert "the flange" Flanagan followed by a lucky pass
through the centre to Rogan resulted in a goal from Andrew Guest assisted by Rogans
pass from behind the net. The game ended 3 all after 5 more minutes pressure
from the opposition. A penalty shootout decided the match Michael Rogan scoring
the first for the Ravens, Miceal O Neill making two vital saves against Latvian shots and the winner coming from the
third Ravens shot scored by Jason Monahan.
An impressive win by the Ravens, showing much improvement on their first meeting with this
team.
The 3 stars of the game for the Ravens were David Whelan, Jason Monahan and Andrew Guest.
The most impressive performance though
has to be our goalie without whom we are lost!!
The Ravens won 3-0 over the girls, with Polor Bear getting two good goals and a screamer but defender Jason. Thanks to the girls for the game!

Thanks to the Wolves for a excellent game and we will see them in 3 weeks for our next match!
Another, sad game for the Ravens losing to the Whalers on Weds match. A good game by all players in the end, establishing that "Flange" is for sure a D-Man, but can suit up and be a goal tender when needed. Miceal, the goalie, had to leave the game in the 3rd period after early taking a heavy blow in the 2nd period and then in the getting double skates straight to the head after he covered the puck. At first, he tried as he best he could to get back to it, but moments later he dropped to the ice, losing his vision for a few minutes. After be taking off the ice by stretcher, Flange, suited up for goal, enabling us to complete the game. Miceal was taken to Drogheda hospital and kept in for observation. He shall be sitting out on the next game this coming Wed, but he shall return, nothing can stop him who needs eyes.....just use the force!! Thank you to everyone wishing him well, and the medics of Dundalk Ice dome as well as our own 'Doc' for looking after him.
Thanks to the Whalers for the game and congratulations to them on their win.
Sad loss on Wed night, losing out on another three points, but not to worry plenty of more games for the Ravens to get back on top. Excellent game played by all the squad, with Miceal O'Neill playing a F.A.B. game, well done to you all!
