Hello there and welcome, we are the DkIT Ravens, a college ice hockey team hailing from Dundalk Institute of Technology, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland, with our home in Dundalk Ice Dome .

The DkIT Ravens 1st came into the light in late January 07, where we become the 1st ice hockey team in Ireland. Our founding fathers are Robert "The Flange" Flanagan and Thomas Mc Donald, who set up the DkIT Ice Hockey club with a dream to create a team that would play for fun, as there is no college league to play in. ON Wed March 14th, the 1st Lean to Skate(LTS) session took place in the Ice Dome, with a massive turn out, from those who never see a ice hockey game before, those who never took that first stride on the ice before and of course those who already had a love for the game. And just to make things that little be more special the Ravens had Irish Coach Jim Tibbets to help us get off on the right foot, along with Dundalk Bulls player Vitas. With out there help, and the ice dome providing us with the time good deal, this team would never have gotten off the ground. Several skating session later, a hidden door within the dome was opened, and for the first time we realized that finally we where becoming a team. The hockey gear ...a small roomed filled with all the gear we needed to let us get a better feel for the game.

Okay..so here comes the team but we need something else to make us who we are right?? Like a name, a logo, an identity, a callsign...1st we where the Bears...the nearly became the blades, razors, hawks and other various names..but then we found it, a Raven, the bird of Dundalk, so we became the DkIT Ravens, then Gary Farrell took over on the logo side and designed the sweet ass logo you see today, blue, black and white where chosen in the end to be our colors as the college colors and also..well just look at the jesery...it just works!

After much discussing and meeting with the money man in the college, the clubs and societies officer, we secured enough money to allow us to get the jerseys made and get the goalie gear. Our 1st web site was designed by Gary who was chopping and changing it all the time, then as work loads got a bit much, I took over the development and started a new site from scratch, that site "site2" is still under development and due to other work loads, is on hold for the minute, so instead I am putting this HTML site together, it will get updated and developed in a ad hoc manner, and is the official site for the foreseen future. So please check back weekly for training updates, news, matches and all the usual stuff....

One last thing, the DkIT Ravens have a dream, to help create a serious Ice Hockey presence in Ireland in the future and help anyone who wants to learn to play...so come along to our mid week training sessions at 3:30 in Dundalk Ice Dome, ever wed.
